Just two weeks before he was born, Aaron and Marilee (Blundy) Faist found out that Ian was diagnosed with Spina Bifida, with secondary hydrocephalus and Arnold Chiari Malformation. Ian made his grand entrance on October 22, 2016. At just 24 hours old, he underwent surgery to repair his spine. One week later, he had his first brain surgery to place a shunt that manages the hydrocephalus. Ian was only home for two weeks when he was rushed back to the UofM Hospital by helicopter needing Chiari decompression surgery. After being home for three more weeks, Ian was again flown back to UofM in January where he recently got a tracheostomy to hlep him breathe better. Ian continues to be a fierce fighter, as are his Mom and Dad.
