Henry Ralson, the long-time agent at the train depot, died decades ago, but his presence has been haunting the station ever since. The spirit’s distress stems from an idle comment Henry made to a reporter upon his retirement and his specter wants nothing more than an audience and a chance at redemption. Listen as he relates a history of Merrinsville that is speckled with stories of the depot, his courtship of the local schoolteacher and the doings of seemingly ordinary people who live extraordinary lives in a small Michigan town.
Raymond Goodwin has performed his Michigan history-themed solo plays to appreciative audiences in towns from the tip of the mitt, through the heartland down to the southern border. Goodwin’s memoir, Sawdusted: Notes from a Post-Boom Mill, was selected in 2011 by the Library of Michigan for its yearly Michigan Notable Book program.

Books will be available for sale at the program. Complete program information at
